5 Things You Need To Know Before Buying A Wine Fridge

Me and my husband stay in a small apartment. It has been a month we have bought and moved to this apartment in the outskirts of the city. Since then, we have invested a lot of time to plan the home décor. Since we have limited space, we had to thoughtfully design it. Otherwise our home would look extremely congested.

My husband is a wine lover. He has a small collection of the exotic grape fruit extract. Over the years, during his trips, he has collected some 42 bottles of it. These bottles are rare varieties. These taste better with time. Hence, these had to be preserved for months before we drink them. Now, wine requires certain favorable conditions to store it for a longer period of time. It cannot be just kept in the kitchen cabinets. Neither the extremely cold freezer is ideal for it. The appetizer needs ideal temperature, light and humidity for preservation. Generally, wine is stored in a cellar. But, construction of a cellar requires huge investments and enough space. With our restricted budget, we cannot afford to construct a cellar. Moreover, we also don't have enough space for it. Thus, a few days back, we asked for advice from an interior designer friend. He recommended us to install a wine fridge and informed us with details about the appliance.

Here's the list of 5 important pointers you need to know before buying a wine fridge:

1.    A wine cooler is not exactly an alternative to a cellar. It could be bought only to store a small collection of wines. A cellar on the other hand has a colossal capacity.

2.    You can even install the cooler within your glass-door kitchen cabinets. This does not create any space crunch while it allows you to showcase your treasured collection.

3.    There are certain models of the wine cooler that come with dual temperature settings to preserve different varieties of the drink. You can opt for this one too, especially, if you want to preserve both white and red wines.

4.    Some of the coolers have a compressor while others are manufactured using thermoelectric mechanism. Now, those with the compressor function more efficiently than those with the thermoelectric mechanism. But, the former creates a buzzing sound while it runs, whereas, the other one is devoid of any such unpleasant noises. Thus, make sure you opt for the one that suits you.

5.    The prices of different models of the cooler vary according to the configuration, designs and styles. There are some available in stainless steel exterior with metal racks. These racks may be available in wood as well. So, have a glance at all the models displayed and then pick the one according to your preference.

Thus, these are some of the essential pointers you need to consider before buying a wine fridge.
